TJ Staar was the guitarist, singer, keyboardist and songwriter for the band Starfire. After 10 years and 6 albums, the band went their separate ways in 1988. Blazing Staar is the first solo album from TJ Staar consisting of songs that were originally written mainly in the early 90's. This is the first time that these songs have been made public. The songs are about finding love, falling in and out of love, being in love, losing love and trying to get through life. But in the end, like everything in life, it's all about love.

Emotions & Memories is the 6th and final album from Starfire containing songs that were written and performed in 1987 and 1988. Even though everyone was getting along and nothing was specifically said, they could tell that this would probably be the end. This is reflected in the darker nature of most of the songs. Though not really a concept album, there are common themes of self-examination, longing, regret and loss throughout. New ideas were becoming less plentiful as well. The band seemed to be drifting apart, but ultimately it was the flooding of their basement rehearsal and recording space that provided the excuse to not continue after 10 years of being a band in some form. They all went on to other musical ventures and there were a number of reunions from 2001-2008. As of this release in 2024, they are all doing well. Though spread across the country, they still keep in touch. From the barn to the stage to the basement to the Studio. The fire still burns and the stars shine brightly.

The Threshold Of Feeling is the 5th album from Starfire containing songs that were originally written and performed from 1985 to 1987. This album also includes a live in the studio bonus track, Chromatic Blues, that was written and performed on October 11, 1986. The song was made up as they went, and proof that you should always have a recorder running in the studio. The previous album was a return after 5 years apart, and this album picks up where that one left off. There are less synthesizers and more guitars, and more of the rock and blues like on the early albums. It could arguably be said that this is where the band was at its peak. But they weren't done yet!

The band broke up in 1980, and talks about reuniting started in late 1984. The musical landscape had changed a lot in 5 years, and the songs reflect that with the addition of synthesizers and different rhythms. There was also more experimentation, but they didn't stray too far from their rock and blues roots. Starfire remained "hard rock with groove" as they had since 1978.

Looking Ahead is the 3rd album from Starfire containing songs that were written and performed in 1979 & 1980. Late 1979 was a time of big changes and unknown futures, with one out of high school and the other three starting their senior year with graduation on the horizon in the spring of 1980. With added experience, the songs were getting more complex, with a blend of hard and softer rock and the return of some blues. Some things were coming to an end, and others beginning, but Starfire just kept looking ahead.

They All Belong To You is the 2nd album from Starfire containing songs that were written and performed in 1978 & 1979. Performing live the previous year had a big impact on the band, and it is reflected in many of these songs. They took a short hiatus in late 1978 after headlining an all-day, outdoor concert, but came back strong in 1979 with new songs and a new show. All while they were still in high school.

In 1978 four boys in Ann Arbor, MI, ages 15-17, formed the band Starfire. They had all been in previous bands in the past year or so and had started writing songs. Starting with these and writing more together as a band, they soon had several to work with. They worked on these songs and created a live show in a barn that had been converted into a garage. They became known in the area for having more original songs than many other area bands at the time.

This album is the first collection of those original songs. 10 of the 13 songs were performed live in 1978.
